Top 5 Foods For Diabetes

I'm Dr. Janine Bowring and today topic is the top five foods for diabetes that number one on my list is cinnamon so having about only half a teaspoon per day is about all you need. You can be sprinkling with whether is on your cereal, on your coffee, on your latte it can be you know easily implemented on on your fruit and what's cinnamon does as a natural spice helps to manage balance out your insulin levels of course is very helpful whether you have diabetes or your boarding line or your blood glucose levels tend to be sort of up and down its can really help to stabilize your blood sugars number two protein so make sure you're getting enough good quality lean protein in your diet again protein helps to balance out the carbohydrates sugars in your diet helps to slow down their digestion so you know having things like chicken and turkey I don't usually recommend fish so much anymore because the toxicity associated with fish but you know legumes and beans are vegetarian sources for protein again really helpful at helping to balance those insulin levels for diabetes number three on my list are healthy fats. Healthy fats they help to balance out the carbohydrates in the diet helping to slow down their absorption so things like avocado nuts and seeds are really helpful as well olive oil really healthy oil to be implementing into your daily diet whether its on your salad or mixed in your food really great at again helping to balance those insulin levels for diabetes. Number four on the list is having low carbohydrate vegetables so staying away from the sweet ones like potatoes and carrots which are higher on the glycemic index and raise your insulin levels have a lower glycemic index carbohydrates like green leafy vegetables are probably my favorite because they contain a high amount of fiber which again helps to slow down the digestive process and slow down the processing of those carbohydrates. Again really important balancing those insulin levels for diabetes. Eat lots of those plus they are loaded with lots of antioxidant, vitamins and minerals which again are important in terms it metabolism and metabolizing carbohydrates altogether number five on the list are onions now onions contain chromium.
