Yoga Poses for Insomnia oga Corpse Pose for Insomnia

So of course, our very last pose in our asana sequence, as in all sequences, is shavasana, or corpse pose. When you've done this whole sequence and you're ready for bed and you're all nice and loose and relaxed and rejuvenated, you might want to move to your bed to do the corpse pose because chances are you might doze off, which is okay in this case, not always, but in this case. So to come into your corpse pose all you're going to do is come lying flat on your back. You're going to let your heels sink into the floor; your legs are just going to fall out. You're going to start to relax from the bottom up. First thing you're going to do is tense your toes, tense your feet and release them. Tense your knees, tense your thighs and release them. We're going to continue. Tense your butt, tense your belly and release it, everything falls into the floor. Tense your ribs -can you tense your ribs? - tense your chest, tense your shoulders and release it. Tense your hands and your arms and release them. Tense your neck and your shoulders and release them. Tense your face and release it. Let everything become heavy, feeling your heels, your tail bone, your shoulder blades, backs of your hands, back of your head, your eyeballs become heavy and everything sinks into the floor or into your bed. Just let the breath find you here. Let your breath flow naturally as you come into a place of total relaxation, and sweet dreams.
