Tim Ferriss Taught Me This About Sleep + Insomnia

Hey, it’s Dr. Sara Gottfried. I’m the integrative physician who helps you feel sexy, ripe and delicious again using natural hormone balancing. I have a tip I wanted to share that I learned from Tim Ferriss. Let me tell you about it. I read 4-Hour Body, and I loved his chapter on sleep. He talked about the Zeo Sleep Coach, which helped him with improving his mood and increasing his deep sleep, and he found that wine interfered with his deep sleep, and I thought, “Hmm, sounds like that would be super helpful for women who have hormonal issues who are in their 40’s, 50’s, plus. So I got myself a Zeo—that’s what this lovely kind of wonder woman thing is on my head. You wear it at night. It basically tracks your deep sleep, REM sleep, light sleep number of awakenings. If you are like me and you sometimes have trouble winding down at night. Maybe your Cortisol is a little too high, a little too much stress happening, a little over-scheduled, or maybe you have early morning awakenings like you wake up at am or am, not when want to wake up. If you have those issues, it can be super helpful to have a good baseline, and then see what happens when you add in certain supplements that make a difference—things like Phosphatidylserine or other things that you can hear about on my website, which is SaraGottfriedMD.com. But I just wanted to thank Tim Ferris for this information. I think it’s really helpful to have an objective way of tracking your sleep, rather than, “I slept good last night, “I didn’t sleep good last night.” So it’s really great to be able to objectify this information. Alright. Wishing you some fabulous sleep. It’s Dr. Sara signing out.
