I learned to overcome crushing depression after injury - and so can you. analyze and harmonize. Chapter 1 - Page 20 Reading continued - The Mystery of Depression From a phoenix of ruin, I harmonized with depression. I know my experience with depression will greatly help you! My symptoms of depression would strike me without any warning and plunge me into really, really dark places. Suicidal thought? You bet - and of the most violent kind. My shattered mind had little or no coping skills. Pithy advice like, "shake it off" refused to acknowledge my genuine and legitimate need for help. I learned to just fake my health to avoid being judged by those around me. I even learned to lie to some doctors because I could tell they did not care. I was also worried they might commit me to a State Hospital, and that would not have been helpful. Fortunately, I eventually found two great doctors who really laid the ground-work for recovery. These physicians rebuilt my shattered faith in the medical community. Together with my drive to figure out my behavior, I uncovered the mystery to mastering depression. However, it took me several years before I even found these great doctors I could trust. I was a ship without help during the darkest hours of my life. I don't want you to be a little lost ship. May Depression Symptoms Decoded After Injury be a lighthouse to your wandering soul. --- My life experience with injury based depression taught me two important thing 47First, the injured will feel emotions at a much higher degree than normal. I felt everything maybe 10X stronger than ever before in my life. I once told a doctor, "I have less emotional control then I did as a child." Even as I write, I am a man much more subject to pathos than before, but I am perhaps even a better man than I was before I got hurt. My injury has developed me, pounded me into a more empathetic person, and forged me in a furnace against depression. Secondly, physical injury requires a person to find happiness despite the actual reality of the injury. Pithy statements aren't enough to magically empower the injured. They need genuine skills to manage the reality of the loss. Depression Symptoms Decoded After Injury is a skill builder to find happiness again even while boldly facing the reality of your depression. Do not fear! You are smart enough to know yourself. This book will give you wonderful insight into getting yourself back on track to being positive, and even happy. THE MYSTERY OF DEPRESSION DECODED People demonstrate their deeply repressed personal needs in their individualized symptoms of depression. Yet, society (including doctors) carelessly lump every symptom of depression beneath the same dark umbrella. This careless treatment of the symptoms of depression makes a generic blob of the sorrow; and it is this featureless ambiguity that makes it an unknowable, and therefore, incurable illness. This is not so. Depression is a knowable, and even a useful, human process. It not an inky blob but it has features - think of the features as "handles" that you can use. See? The expression - "I can't get a handle on my depression" - drops away if you understand your symptoms. By analyzing how you personally process your pain, you will gain valuable insight into mastering your depression. This empowers you to "get a handle" on your depression. And the key to a healing path is found in understanding the signs/symptoms that you utilize when you are sad. This book will teach you how to understand your own depression profile and therefore you will find a path for finding happiness.
