How To Eat To Prevent Cancer - VitaLife Show Episode 69



Welcome to the Vitalife show I'm doctor Janine Bowring and today we're talking about how to eat to prevent cancer so there are some basic guidelines that we can all do to help to prevent cancer in the long run whether we have a family history or not it's really important that we all do the basics to stay healthy so first on the list is to eat a variety of foods healthy foods non processed foods that do not contain any chemicals or by products and basically have a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables if its ripe it's much better for you and if you do need to cook them they should just be lightly steam so usually that means about under three minutes of steaming to help to maintain the integrity in those phyto-chemicals and nutrients within those fruits and vegetables next on the list will be omega-3 so omega 3 fatty acids especially from fish are natural anti-inflammatories and studies have shown that by taking enough essential fatty acids especially the DHA and EPA this actually helps to reduce our cancer risk and more importantly thirty to fifty percent of people that consume enough of omega 3s especially from fish have a decrease in cancer rates and that's really important. Now not all fish oil supplements are created equal you always have to have a high concentration DHA as opposed to EPA which is really important as well as to get it from a non-toxic source so I actually don't even recommend that my patient eat fish anymore in the diet because all fish has become quite toxic so and you never know which fish is more toxic than another when you're eating it in the diet so what's really important is to supplement with a high quality fish oil supplement that is mercury free but also more importantly free of any other heavy metals PCB's and dioxin and Vitafish Oil is my creation from Vitatree which of course meet all the standards but more importantly has that high concentrations of DHA to EPA for more information on that you can look at vitatree.com what's really important that people don't realize is in order to break down their food and to break down what there eating in your diet whether its healthy or not is to chew properly, a lot of people you know us you know we're working and we're busy and we're always on the run eating on the run we don't eat and sit down to eat and enjoy our meals and actually chew our food appropriately it's really important to chew your food to break it down that we actually absorb it appropriately so that's really important make sure you sit down and have a quiet moment when you are eating your food and chew properly so you get all those nutrient out of it as you're suppose to. A lot of the spices have great anti-cancer effects so things like cinnamon and ginger and turmeric are great. Turmeric contains curcumin which is really important as a natural anti- cancer ingredient and numerous studies are now showing the anti-cancer properties of these spices so that's something they can you know add to your foods and give spice up your life a little bit and add these spices into your daily routine will help with the long-term affects of preventing cancer but also for treating it as well and green tea.
